Admission to the Na-C Program is with instructor permission and by completing the following tasks:
- Attend an Information Session and bring English testing results or transcripts. CASAS scores (for non native english speakers) in Reading and Listening (Minimum of 220 in both tests required) or Compass Reading test score (for native English speakers) (Minimum of 40 in Reading required) or college transcripts showing completion of precollege or college level English with a minimum grade of 2.0.
- Complete and submit an application to the NA-C program to the Instructor in the Information session
- Complete a writing sample, answering the question, "Why do you want to be in the Nursing Assistant program at NSCC this year?" This writing sample must be completed in the Information Session and given to the Instructor in the Information Session.
*Admission to this program will be denied to anyone who has
- Been discharged from any job due to safety and/or security issues.
- Been discharged from any vocational/academic program due to safety and/or security issues.
- Incurred any event from the list of disqualifying crimes against persons as listed in Washington State Law. To see the list type in 43.43.830-842
- Incurred any event from the list of disqualifying crimes against persons as listed under the Secretary's List of disqualifying crimes under Federal Law. To see list click on #3.
Priority for admission to this program will be given to Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL) and/or Workforce Education students.
Applicants should be aware of the specific physical requirements of the nursing assistant as outlined in the Information Sessions.
The intent of this program is to assist student in progressing along a career pathway to obtain immediate employment.
Once the application period is closed, all applicants will be considered and admitted according to the guidelines listed above. A waiting list will be kept up to the first week of each new quarter.
